Today we celebrate National sandwich day. Before I share the list of my five favorite Sandwiches, or "Sammies" in Montrose. Let us go back to when my love for sandwiches began.

It all started with Mom‘s PB&J. She lops on a big thick slap of peanut butter and jelly. Add a piece of cheese, and then she would throw it in the bottom of the bag. Follow that up with a 10-pound orange she would toss in my sack lunch, forming a large Jelly Dent on top of my sandwich.

As I got older, mom began to get quite creative with our sandwiches. To her, they became works of art. My mom would make ham and cheese with mayo on Jewish rye and add black olives! You have not lived until you add black olives to your sandwich. Sometimes I will go weeks just eating sandwiches for lunch and dinner.

The sandwich I disliked the most was the one my Grammy tried to pass off as the all-amazing HERO sandwich. It consisted of bread, lettuce, and mayo. Then Grammy would add sliced radishes to the mix! My brother and sister LOVED Grammy's, Hero Sammy. I did not.

But what I do have for you is my Five Favorite Sandwiches and where you can go in Montrose to order them.
