One thing about living in Colorado is that you do get to see all four seasons. On the "plus" side, you get fall colors, the great outdoors, and fresh mountain air. On the "minus" side, you get winter.

Sure, many Coloradans absolutely enjoy winters here. They get exuberant about sleeping with the windows open and the snowshoeing trip they have planned. When it comes to how much snow Colorado will get this winter, others might just as well it stayed spring or fall all year.

If you dread scraping your windshield, winter driving, and needing to wear eight layers of clothing through the winter, I can tell you that you're not alone. I have many friends who always say they're moving to Florida soon. They're still here. What if there was a place to escape the "Colorado Winter" while still in Colorado?

Enduring the Colorado winters does make you really appreciate it when it turns nice again in the spring, though. Taking the good with the bad, as they say. For argument's sake, let's say that you wanted to stay in Colorado but get away from all that winter stuff.

One of Colorado's weather experts, Matt Makens (formerly of Denver 2 News), has been studying data and has a map forecasting Colorado's 2022-23 winter outlook. A close look at that map shows two different places/regions to which those who hate winter might choose to escape.

1. CAMPO

In extreme southeastern Colorado, about 20 miles south of Springfield, is a tiny town called CampoMatt Makens' map shows that Campo should have gotten more than 12 inches of snow last winter.

You'd still be in Colorado, but it wouldn't be anything like you may be used to.

I could see hitting up Campo Cafe just about every other day.

2. SOUTHERN UTE RESERVATION - SLEEPING UTE RV PARK

On the very southwestern part of the state, you won't find much south of Cortez. But 12 miles southwest of Cortez is the Ute Mountain Hotel & Casino on the Southern Ute Reservation.

This area also was expected to see less than 12 inches of snow all season.

Now, you probably wouldn't want to pay to stay at the hotel all winter, but they do have an RV Park, which could save you a lot if you have one.

Take a look at the big picture for Colorado: You can see that the whole state was expected to get at least 12 inches of snow, except for the two regions mentioned.
